Mark Parson has joined Bellewood & Brooklawn as Outpatient Services clinical manager.
Parson previously worked at Bellewood & Brooklawn as a Community Based Services therapist for five years before leaving to work briefly as a nephrological social worker. Prior to becoming a licensed clinical social worker, Parson was an English professor for approximately 11 years at the University of Louisville, and taught classes at Bellarmine University and Jefferson Community and Technical College.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in English and communications from Bellarmine University, and master’s degrees in English literature and social work from the University of Louisville. In addition to being a licensed clinical social worker, Parson has completed juvenile sex offender and adolescent community reinforcement approach training, and is certified in Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS).
In his role with Bellewood & Brooklawn, Parson will oversee the Outpatient Services program, which works with youth in Jefferson and surrounding counties who are experiencing ongoing behavioral and emotional problems. Services are offered in youth’s home, school or the office on the Bellewood & Brooklawn-Brooklawn campus. Family-based case management services are provided for youth with emotional disabilities, access to medication management and therapy services are offered on a continuum based on need.
